Many things are going on in the Village and may need some clarification…
Since April we have been searching for new flag poles for the new American flags that were purchased to fly through the downtown. Unfortunately we have not been able to find suitable replacements and were left to use the old poles for this spring and summer. We have noticed that the height the flags fly at is causing them to get caught in the passenger side doors of vehicles parked along the downtown streets. In June a driver shut a flag in her door without realizing and began to drive away before she was stopped because the flag and part of the pole were dragging beside the SUV. When it broke off it left a dangerous jagged piece still in the ground. So with this in mind Council began working on a plan to fly the flags safely in the downtown area and have reached out to building and business owners with a possible solution. The troop banner brackets have not weathered well this spring and summer with more than half falling down with the strong storms. The Council approved the purchase of new brackets which are being made more durable and will begin going back up in August. The banners are also being cleaned before being put back up. If you would still like to order a troop banner for a service member, please contact the Village Office at 937.465.2716. In August the downtown light poles and traffic signals are being painted. Because of this our Street department is taking down the signs on the poles (with the exception of the state signs).
There will be a Public Meeting regarding new Floodplain Maps at 6 PM on August 28th in the Town Hall Opera House. Council meeting to follow at 7 PM.
