We would like to congratulate Stoner’s Ice Cream Parlor for being selected at the West Liberty Business Association’s June 2023 Business of the Month. The Ice Cream Parlor is owned by Jeff and Kelli Stoner. This is their 6th year of ownership. Jeff also works for Godwin Contracting and Kelli works at The Ohio State University as a Nurse Manager over the Infusion and Clinical Lab. She also just graduated from The Ohio State University with her doctorate so you can now call her Dr. Stoner!
The Ice Cream Parlor currently employs 16 young ladies and gentlemen. You can always walk into a welcome greeting, great service, and their support to you. At one time their building housed the village Post Office as well as one time being a snowmobile dealership. Jeff and Kelli both frequented the parlor as kids so when they bought it, they wanted to bring back that same nostalgia and atmosphere. They also now offer a food trailer that can do events out in the community. You have most likely seen them at the West Liberty Labor Day Festival. Jeff and Kelli support their community by being members of various local clubs and civic organizations. They are members of the West Liberty Business Association as well as the West Liberty Lions Club. As business owners they sponsor and donate to many different events, organizations, and causes in and outside of the community. Customers love the generous portion of ice cream they are served! Jeff says that mainly customers like to come in and see the kids working. They get compliments on how polite, nice, and patient the workers are. The hours of operation are 12:00 noon -8:00pm during the school year. The summer hours are 11:00 am – 9:00 pm. When they are not at the Ice Cream Parlor they enjoy spending time with their family and friends. They say their favorite part of owning a business in West Liberty is the smiles and memories that are being made when people visit their store. Their favorite thing about West Liberty is definitely the people! When asked if there was anything they would like for their customers to know, they said, “Thank you for letting us serve you! We so much appreciate you all!” A quote from one of their most loyal customer Bill McKelvey is, "The customer service they provide is unique and one of a kind just like their banana splits!" Every month Marie’s Candies lets the Business of the Month winner pick their favorite candy. Jeff and Kelli chose Chimney Sweets so those will be highlighted for the month of June. The Ice Cream Parlor then takes the chosen candy and creates a sundae featuring that candy. That treat is yet to be determined. There will be an award presentation on May 31st at 6:00pm. The public is invited. Mayor Jill McKelvey will be buying ice cream for everyone that attends the event. Written and submitted by: Brenda Snyder, WLBA Secretary |
