Attention Village of West Liberty Residents

Starting May 4th - May 8th, there will be a crew from Arcadis in town doing some scouting.  This is for the ongoing project for verification of supply line material for the water system.  Soon, potholing will begin on a small percentage of water service locations throughout the village.  This scouting crew will only be looking for feasible curb stop locations at these selected properties. 

Once this list is compiled, a potholing company will come in the next few weeks. Using a vac truck, they will vacuum out holes on both sides of the curb box (water shutoff valve) in the yard. Once the service line material is verified, the holes will be refilled and seeded back to the original condition.  This process should only take a matter of minutes. 

Both the scouting and the potholing crews will be in company-marked vehicles and will have identification badges.  They will NOT be going into any homes.  The curb boxes are generally located within a couple of feet of the sidewalk or at the end of the driveway.

​The Board of Zoning Appeals for the Village of West Liberty will hold its annual organizational meeting on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 9am.  Meeting will be held in the Council meeting room at 201 N. Detroit St, West Liberty, Ohio 43357.

The West Liberty Wastewater Department is pleased to announce that we have secured a grant to complete a sewer project that has been in the works for the past couple of years. 

We will be replacing 1,308 feet of sewer line in the Linden St. area   The effected addresses are Linden 112, 116,  200, 204, 208, 209, 213, 216, 217, 224, 232, 300, 301, 304, 305, 308, 309, 312, 313, 316, 319. Race St.  95, 101, 102.  Pickerelltown 224. If you are one of these effected residences and would like to replace your sewer lateral (at your expense) please call us at 937-465-2179 or 937-465-2716 so you can coordinate your contractor with the construction crew. 

Construction will begin within the next 2 or 3 weeks and will be completed by June 30th. The new sewer line will be 3’ into the roadway on the north side of Linden and 3’ into the roadway on the east side of Race.  The starting point will be Race St. to Linden to the west.  Then back to the east on Linden.  Each property will transition to the new line as we proceed.  The street may be closed or limited access during parts of the progression.  The work will mainly take place early morning thru early evening Monday thru Thursday.  Depending on weather and holidays when the schedule may change.  Alternative parking arrangements may need to be made during your section of work. 

No interruption of services is expected except when they are connecting to your lateral, and your property will be returned to its original condition at the completion of the project.

We would like to remind everyone that plumbing a sump pump to the sewer line is a violation of Village Ordinance and must be disconnected from the system.

This is just one phase of our effort to get control on our problem of infiltration which overwhelms our aging sewer system.  Thank you in advance to everyone for your patience while we complete this project.   Also a big Thank You to Richard Ford our new Village Administrator who breathed new life into this project and is seeing it through because we thought it was dead in the water.
